Dear Brad,

We have the same problem at our home and have figured that they just need little bit more cuddle time (after making sure that they had their drink and used the rest room). My kids are little older but we still lie down with them for a short while and they fall asleep. Only problem with that is that sometime we end up sleeping as well and that throws all plans of finishing up work after they sleep out the window!!

Good luck with your present dilemma. If you come up with a solution that works, please let me know!!

Thank you so much for this article … I was just with a mom that kept saying to her adorable 2 year old girl, “you need to OBEY me”. It was so hard to listen to, but I didn’t know what to do! There must be some type of parenting style out there that recomends this awful language?! What a terrible thing to say to a child. What happened to helping a child develop their own independent thinking and developement of their own instints. I am trying to teach my children that we are a family and we all respect each other. They listen to us out of respect and we listen to them out of respect. Plus, that language makes the other adults around uncomfortable.

Please write something to give my husband. He refers to himself as a babysitter whenever I leave the house without OUR daughter. This enrages me to no end. At the moment I am looking up anything to show him as to why his narrow minded thinking is wrong. I don’t babysit our daughter when he’s gone. Currently I don’t care to speak to him because he insists he is just a babysitter.

Please help.
