iPhone Update

I have now had my new iPhone for a little more than a month and I thought that I’d update the blog with my praises and complaints that I have had over the past 30+ days. None of them are really earth shattering, most people have said the same thing, but I’d still like to talk about them.

Daughter’s First Baseball Game

image Last night my wife and I took our daughter to her very first professional baseball game. And although we lost it was an experience that I will never forget.

The Eagle Has Landed

image On Monday I finally got my grubby little paws on my new iPhone. I have to say that since then I have been elated, for the most part. I say for the most part because it has had a couple hiccups that are a tad irritating.

The Countdown Begins…

image I finally got to “buy” my iPhone. On Sunday I gave my money to the little man at the AT&T store and he gave me a receipt. No phone, just a receipt. Now I get the privilege of waiting “7 to 10” days for it to be shipped to the store where I can pick it up. I initially thought that I’d be able to get around all of this by simply buying it from any of the Apple stores here in town. Upon my arrival at Apple however, I found that since I get a discount on my service that only AT&T could sell me the phone. Unbelievable. I hope I’m not making a mistake.

The iPhone 3G And Me

image A while back I posted my reaction to the unveiling and release date of Apple’s latest iPhone. I was rather disgruntled about having to wait yet another month to finally get my dirty little paws on the thing. Well now I have deliberately  decided to wait yet another month to finally buy it. (Keep in mind that I have already technically won one from a local radio station, but that’s a different story) If I can just hold out until August 10 then I’ll get it for $200 less than if I got it now. I think it’s worth it. Besides, now I won’t have to wait in any ridiculous line, hopefully 2.0.1 version of the firmware will be out and I won’t have the guilt of an impulse buy.

It seems most people are extremely happy with their new phones, if you have anything to add, let me know.

Some Billy G. Humor

windows Even Bill Gates gets frustrated with Windows. Here’s a great little tidbit of humor I found about Bill venting about trying to install a simple application from the Microsoft web site. I’m constantly frustrated (especially with Windows Update!!) with this system and I’m glad to see that I’m not alone.

JULY 11th!?!?!?!?!?!

main_homescreen20080609 Now I have to wait until July 11 to finally get an iPhone! I can’t believe it. I have patiently waiting for the second version to come out for ever and now I have to wait another month. I guess you could say that I’ve waited this long I could wait another month. WHATEVER!

I’m done ranting.

It does look like it will be worth the wait however.

Disney World From A Screen?!

Okay, I love technology, I mean LOVE it! However, I really don’t think that trying to replace the experience (most likely with your kids) from Google Earth is the way to go. A place like Disney World or Disneyland is more than just seeing what there is to see. It’s also smelling the food, hearing the sounds and just being in the park. It’s so much more! Now I know that most people are not really replacing the experience of the theme park with a piece of software but I can’t help but think that at least a few are and that saddens me. Hopefully I’m wrong.
