My Little Gift To All The Moms
Since Mother’s Day is Sunday (you did know that, right?) I would like to give a meaningful gift to all the moms out there…the gift of a day without the dreaded mommy-guilt we so often. In this day and age moms are at war with each other (stay-at-home vs. working outside the home, breast-feed vs. formula, epidural vs. natural, the list goes on and on) and more often than not ‘experts’ out there place at least some doubt in even the most strong willed moms. So, let’s post about everything that you (or the mother in your life) does right and should be proud of.
I will begin. My wife and the mother of my children:
- I am proud of her for recognizing that she isn’t cut out to be a stay-at-home mom. Not every woman is but they don’t always have an option.
- She has an uncanny ability of knowing there is about to be a kid crying or making noise before the sound actually makes it to her ears. So odd. Freaky actually.
- She always made the kids’ baby food. Both for their health and for our cost savings. She always did it no matter how tired she was.
- Everyday she has our daughter pick out her clothes no matter how mismatched and silly they look and my wife always wants her to look as cute as possible. The lesson of making sure that she learns to do things for herself is far more important.
These are just a few examples, I could probably write all night but I have to be honest, I’m beat! Let’s hear it fellas!

Wow! I’ve enjoyed reading all these fabulous comments. You guys truly rock!
I’m going to write a comment about my mother-in-law. For one, she is the best there ever will be. Also, she is the most accepting person. I know many wives don’t get along with their MIL’s, but I always have. I entered the family a little unconventionally (long story) and she never once made me feel like an outsider. Furthermore, she’s been nothing but supportive and encouraging in my role as a mother and wife. She’s one great lady!

I have one of the best moms in the world! She trusted me to become the person I knew I could be and to go find out what the world had to offer. When I was 15 she encouraged (allowed) me to go to Costa Rica by myself for the first of many many international adventures. Having children of my own now, I know that that had to be one of the most difficult acts of selflessness ever. Somehow she knew that she had to let me go into the world to really become a part of it. I am so grateful for that. To this day she is my best friend and one of the most important people in my life. I hope she knows that on mother’s day and always, I am so grateful for her and the lessons she taught me. I am so lucky!

My mom is gone, so instead I will comment on one of my most favorite Mom’s – my daughter. What an incredible mother she is. She (along with her wonderful husband) have instilled an incredible sense of humor and fun in her two children. No matter how long her day has been, no matter how busy she is, she still spends some quality time with her two, going to the park, reading, playing Candy Land, or just rolling on the floor with them. Her children sparkle with a zest for life like none I have seen before. Thanks to their wonderful mom, they know they are loved, and that the world is a wonderous adventure. I like to think that she learned some of her mothering skills from me, but I know she has taken anything I taught her and magnified it by a hundred. Happy Mothers Day, sweetie! You are doing an amazing job!!!!!

Great post! Where would we be without our moms? Or wives? (Hint: I don’t think we’d last too long at all!

This will be my first Mother’s Day without my mom. She passed away earlier this year, but I’ll never forget everything she meant to me. Great post and happy FF!

Awesome Idea…maybe we can kidnap all the ‘experts’ for one day and duct tape their mouths shut! I too am proud of my wife for recognizing that she isn’t cut out to be a stay-at-home mom. Also, I love that my wife always has the answers about medication and our son (granted, she is a drug dealer by trade, but I’m nervous about medicating him and she’s done her research on it all). There are so many things to say I’d fill up your comment section. But you are right, our wives rock as moms. And, for that matter, so did our moms.
