6129ABW8FKL._SL500_AA240_ I’m a huge fan of music. There really aren’t very many types of music I don’t like. I love the way it makes me feel whether it’s calming me down after a rough day or getting me pumped up to do something active. I just love music. So why do I feel kind of weird when I admit, at least to myself, that the music my kids listen to is actually rather enjoyable? It’s fun and happy and sometimes even educational.

Some of my favorite stuff is by Brent Holmes. We have two of his disks and we love them. One is called “Sea Tunes For Kids” and it is filled with silly songs about having a manatee in your bathtub, an underwater parade and Sammy the salmon. The song about Billy the Squid is my personal favorite. The songs are really fun and we find them downright hilarious. The other one is called “Moose Tunes For Kids”. Again they are all really funny and the kids love them and love to sing along. What else is really great about the Brent Holmes disks are that the last track on each disk is an informational track, fun facts about the disk topic. The one talks about all of the fascinating things about the ocean and is really quite impressive. These are some of our absolute favorite disks.

A few others that we have really come to love are Toddler Tango, a really cool (I can’t believe that I’m using that word to describe this) Peter, Paul & Mary kids’ disk (which is great except for one song that describes children burning) and a couple of great ones from Pottery Barn. Who would have thought that they would have such great music?

We love dancing in the living room or driving down the road singing these songs with our kids. Hardly a day goes by that we don’t enjoy at least some of these tunes. It’s a great way to interact with your kids as well as expose them to different kinds of music. It also helps cultivate a love of music that will become a huge part of their being. You really can’t go wrong.

What are some of your favorites? We would love to expand our collection and introduce the kids to even more great music.
