image So this morning was rather interesting. I woke up both kids as usual to get them ready to take them to day care. My son simply asked for his milk just like any other day. So once he had that he was happy as could be. My daughter on the other hand most definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Her biggest issue of the day was regarding her pants, she didn’t like the ones that she had picked out the night before.

Me being the nurturing father that I am :) , explained to her that those were the pants that she had picked out and they were going to have to be fine because I had to hurry and get to work. I also knew that if I gave in and let her choose another pair none of them would be the “right” ones and we’d never get out the door. After battling back and forth and me finally grabbing another pair (can’t believe I even did that), I took my son out to the car and got him in his car seat. I went back in and simply picked up my darling girl, her pants and socks and headed out. I strapped her into her car seat with nothing but a shirt and underwear on! Needless to say she was more than a bit upset. She screamed for most of the way to daycare (it’s only about 5 minutes from our house) but did manage to calm herself down relatively quickly. By the time we got there she was completely calm and we had a quick chance to talk about the events. She said she was sorry and that it wouldn’t happen again.

I really didn’t want to have her sit in the car in her underwear but this is not the first time that this has been an issue and quite frankly I was more than done with it. She didn’t get hurt (I was sweating like mad since I had the heater in the car on high to keep her warm) and I do think she learned something. Hopefully from now on she will choose clothes that she will actually wear the next day. Hopefully. What do you think? Was I too hard on her, not hard enough or just right?
